Title: Director, Digital Strategy 
Reports to: VP, Client Partnerships 
 
Position Summary:
The Director of Digital Strategy serves as a key leader within Heller’s strategic organization responsible for defining and driving the agency’s digital vision across our portfolio of healthcare and life sciences clients.
 
This individual will lead multi-disciplinary teams in creating omnichannel engagement strategies that seamlessly integrate paid, owned, and earned media to deliver measurable business impact. They will bring a deep understanding of digital ecosystems from CRM and marketing automation to web, search, and social while championing a culture of data-driven insight, innovation, and continuous optimization.
 
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of leading digital transformation efforts, crafting cross-channel roadmaps, and developing high-performing teams. Combining analytical prowess with creative flair to achieve optimal ROI. Experience in pharma/healthcare marketing, including DTC and HCP engagement, is essential.
 
Employment Type:
This position begins as a freelance, part-time role (15–20 hours per week) with the opportunity to transition to a full-time employee position starting in Q1 2026. We are seeking candidates who are excited about growing with the role and the company.

Key Responsibilities + Areas of Accountability:
  • Define and evolve Heller’s digital and omnichannel strategy framework across clients and new business efforts.
  • Partner with account, creative, scientific, and data teams to translate brand goals into actionable digital roadmaps and measurable KPIs.
  • Lead integrated digital initiatives spanning CRM, SEM, SEO, paid and organic social, UX optimization, marketing automation, and analytics.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to clients, providing thoughtful leadership on digital innovation, channel optimization, and emerging trends.
  • Strategic guidance and direction will include CRM campaigns, websites, banners, emails, social and other digital mediums.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to implement strategies to guide creative development, produce high-impact content and campaign elements.
  • Conduct A/B testing, report on campaign performance, and implement adjustments to optimize outcomes.
  • Identify and pursue digital growth opportunities, expanding client relationships through strategic recommendations and proactive insights.
  • Present strategies and performance narratives that clearly articulate value and ROI, tailoring communications to executive-level audiences.
  • Monitor cultural and category trends to inform actionable strategies and inspire creative solutions.
  • Support social media strategy and execution, including social creative best practices, profile creation, and platform coordination. 
  • Help develop digital project briefs focused on customer-centric, omnichannel experiences personalized by audience segments.
  • Evaluate new technologies, tools, and partnerships to enhance Heller’s digital offerings and operational efficiency
  • Ensure all digital initiatives align with client goals, category dynamics, and customer behaviors.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 9+ years of digital marketing experience, including at least 5 years in a strategic leadership role (Director level or higher).
  • Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry, including experience navigating MLR/OPDP or similar regulatory environments.
  • Proven track record leading omnichannel strategy across CRM, web, paid media, social, search, and content ecosystems.
  • Expertise with digital platforms and tools (Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, GA4, SEMrush, Sprout Social, etc.).
  • Strong analytical acumen with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and business recommendations.
  • Is creative, results-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

If a freelance employee transitions to a full-time, regular position, the salary range for the Internal Digital Strategist role is $150,000 – $185,000, based on experience and qualifications.
 
Pay Transparency: The range above represents the low and high end of the base salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of Heller, Inc. in the United States. Salaries will vary based on various factors including but not limited to professional and academic experience, training, associated responsibilities, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.
